Gil Rigoulet became one of the first photographers at the newspaper “Le Monde” in 1984. In collaboration with Henri Cartier Bresson he created the “Portrait of a daily newspaper” in 1985 and worked for the French and international magazine press for 3 decades.
In 1986, Robert Doisneau presented the photos of Gil in a portfolio of the Photo-Magazine and Christian Caujolle shows these photos for the exhibition “Living in a swimsuit” at the Deligny swimming pool, with Joseph Koudelka, Marc Riboud, William Klein , Helmut Newton, Jacques-Henri Lartigue…
He collaborates with numerous magazines of the national and international press, like Géo, Grands Reportages, Elle, Sunday Times, La Républica, la Stampa, El Pais etc…
At the same time, he developed his work on Street Photography as an author in the 1970s, and tackled the themes he had dealt with for 35 years, such as “The Body and Water”, “Paysages en mouvement”, “les Photographes” . All this work was never shown during this period, it was only after he stopped working with the press that he devoted himself to his archives since 2014 and began to show these images.
